Check MIDI OUT → Prophecy MIDI IN, then match the sending channel to GLB-8 [MIDI] → Global Channel. Korg lists both checks for failed MIDI control.
Do this first
- Check that the external device's MIDI OUT is connected to the Prophecy's MIDI IN.
- Inspect GLB-8 [MIDI] → Global Channel and send notes on that channel.
- If you intentionally need to receive from any channel, GLB-8 → Omni ON permits that; return to a defined channel for a predictable multi-device setup.
Diagnose it
Is the cable connected from the sender's OUT to the Prophecy's IN?
Yes: Compare the sender's channel with Global Channel in GLB-8.
No: Correct the cable direction and test again.
Do the sending channel and Global Channel match?
Yes: Check whether the sender is actually transmitting notes and whether the Prophecy's audio path works.
No: Set matching channels, or deliberately use Omni ON.
Expected result
Incoming notes play the Prophecy on the selected channel.
Why this works
With Omni OFF, the Prophecy receives on its Global Channel; Omni ON accepts any incoming channel.
Still stuck?
Recheck the physical MIDI direction and the exact source device setting. If this behavior differs on your hardware, keep the model/revision and setup details for a correction report.
