Recovery and update boundary

The OS 1.51 manual documents a startup self-test with a test log. An error should be captured and taken to Elektron support or the retailer rather than treated as a menu-setting issue.

Elektron’s update guidance distinguishes standard Transfer updates from older installations that require SysEx transfer first. The startup-menu OS-upgrade route requires a physical MIDI interface; it does not use USB MIDI transfer.

Reset data-safety boundary

Official manual

Empty Reset and Factory Reset do not have the same data-loss boundary. The manual says Empty Reset clears patterns and Sounds while preserving the +Drive; Factory Reset overwrites the active RAM project, +Drive slot 1 and Sound bank A.

Back up and read the exact reset warning before confirming either operation. This page deliberately does not present a reset as a general first troubleshooting step.
