Channels and Local Control

Utility → MIDI provides separate Input Chan and Output Chan settings. Arturia’s manual gives Utility → MIDI → Input Chan and Utility → MIDI → Output Chan as the places to match a DAW, controller or destination channel.

Local Control OFF disconnects the keyboard and controls from the MicroFreak sound engine while they continue to transmit MIDI. Arturia documents this as a way to avoid double triggering when a sequencer echoes the keyboard’s notes back to the synth.

USB MIDI and documented parameter messages

Official manual

The MicroFreak is documented as USB MIDI class-compliant. For an iPad, Arturia specifies an appropriate camera/USB adapter cable; confirm the host device’s requirements before choosing an adapter.

Arturia’s MIDI FAQ lists individual parameter messages. For example, Cutoff is CC23, Resonance is CC83, Hold is CC64 and keyboard pressure uses aftertouch. Use the official list for any parameter not named here rather than guessing from the front panel.
